Offering a fun, safe, and secure environment where children can learn, develop, and grow.
The Nzen’man’ Child Care Programs is open to all children in our communities, with priority spaces for child members of the Lytton First Nation, Skuppah, Kanaka, and Nicomen communities.
We offer 66 licensed spaces to families who require child care to fulfill work, education, and personal commitments. There are three distinct programs, each with its own program design and staffing:
Nlaka'pamux culture and language, creative art, music, movement, dramatic play, problem-solving, scientific exploration, math, and literacy activities are an integral part of every child's day at the Centre. Our trained and certified staff will work with families to ensure care is individual, responsive, and ensure that everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
We are open Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm and provide full time school-aged care during professional development days, spring and summer breaks. The Affordable Child Care Benefits is available to eligible families. Please click on the following link for more information:

We are licensed to provide care for a maximum of 12 infants and toddlers. Our child to staff ratio is 1 staff member for every 3 children. The daily program for infants is basically self-paced and caregivers will work with families to establish routines that meet the needs of the infant, the family, and the centre.
The program for infants and toddlers provides a variety of activities and equipment to challenge and stimulate their development. While the days are kept flexible, some activities such as lunch and snack times are typically done as a group. A rich resource of activities is planned to foster optimal development of the whole child. The children have opportunities to develop their skills in the following areas: language, emotional, fine/gross motor, personal/social, and problem solving. Some of the activities planned include (but not limited to): songs, circle, art, play dough, and finger plays free play, community walks, hygiene, and stories.
We are licensed to provide care for a maximum 20 three to five year olds. Our child/staff ratio is 1 staff member for every 7 children. Prior to being enrolled into the program, children must be fully potty-trained. The daily program for Three to Five’s includes a variety of opportunities, stimulating experiences, and a safe healthy environment for your child to grow and learn at their own pace. There are plenty of opportunities for free-play and self-chosen activities in addition to structured learning times such as circle/story time. The activity centres include – but not limited to: dramatic play area, blocks, reading/writing, manipulative play, sand/water, math, music and movement science/plants/animals, play dough, gross motor, computer, and circle. These are area’s that will foster optimal development of the whole child. Your child will be engaged in group and self-chosen activities in the following broad developmental areas: intellectual, physical, emotional, and language.
We also welcome children from the Stein Valley K4 program to join our Three to Five Program before and after their Preschool session.
We have two licensed Afterschool Programs with a combined licensed capacity of 34 for children ages six to twelve years old. Our child staff ratio is 1 staff for every 10 children. The centre provides nurturing, stimulating, and challenging environments which focus on each child’s needs and development and the needs of the group as a whole.
The children have opportunities to develop their life skills and learn about establishing respectful social relationships. Positive social values will be modeled with an emphasis on ensuring respect for self and others, equal rights and opportunities for group members, and acceptance of differences. The children explore the outdoor playground/gymnasium, as well as go for walks in the community. The program offers children a chance to provide input and feedback and planning of the activities and events.
While schedules are flexible, some activities such as snack times are typically enjoyed as a group. Caregivers will work with families to establish routines that meet the needs of the children, the family and the Centre.
We welcome children of all abilities to participate in all of our child care programs. Once a child is identified as having additional needs (one to one care, speech and language services for example), we will work closely with the family and other service providers to ensure that playing, learning, and growing will happen in a way that all children feel that they belong, are welcomed, supported, and valued.
